My posted rates are estimates only. Please contact me directly for a quote. Pricing is based on the length and complexity of the manuscript, estimated time to completion, and services required.

Currency

My rates are posted in USD. However, if you are based in Canada, let me know and I will adjust for the exchange rate and HST.

Payment

I accept payment via PayPal, Stripe, or Interac e-transfer.

Financial Access

I know freelance editorial work can be very costly, and that this is part of the gatekeeping process that keeps marginalized writers out of publishing and off the shelves.

I offer financial access in the following ways:

• Payment schedules geared to your timeline. I offer this to every client who books with me.

• PWYC query reviews. Having a rock-solid query is an essential part of landing an agent. I offer a select number of PWYC query reviews every month for marginalized authors.

• Sliding scale editorial assessments. Spots for these are limited, but I do offer reduced-rate editorial assessments for marginalized authors. Unfortunately, I am not able to offer sliding scale on full developmental or line edits, but we can still get a lot done with an assessment.

• Sliding scale positioning and coaching calls. I offer sliding scale 1-hour positioning and coaching calls to marginalized authors to help you get unstuck, or to help you position your work in the market.

• Geared-to-budget offerings. This is for everyone: If your budget has a hard cap, send me an email and I’ll tell you what I can do that fits in your price range.

• Free publishing advice. If you’re a marginalized person looking to get into publishing, either as an author or worker, I am happy to sit down with you and have a chat about it.

Refunds

I do not offer refunds. However, if anything in the work you’ve received from me feels unclear or misaligned to your work, please contact me and I am happy to clarify and discuss. I want my clients to feel seen and heard in our work together, and above all, I want my edits to be useful to you. If something isn’t sitting right, let’s work on it until it does.

Payment Schedules

Payment schedules are TBD on a contract by contract basis. I do require a deposit of 20-50% either at contract signing or at the beginning of the booking period. My usual split is 50% at the beginning and 50% on project delivery, but when I am putting together your quote I will ask you if you want something different. I am happy to break your payments into as many instalments as you like, no judgement and no questions asked.
